and yet another newsletter received from tickle.
http://web.tickle.com/tests/celeblook2/index.jspDenise *, your celeb look is inspired by Keri Russell
From the small screen to the silver screen, you've got plenty in common with this adorable actress. Like Keri, you're charming and sincere, with a sweet disposition and great personal style. For you, staying stylish is likely to be as much about feeling great and enjoying yourself as it is about what you wear. That's why you're not one to follow outlandish trends. After all, you'd much rather wear your clothes than have them wear you. By keeping it simple, it's your unique self they'll remember. Way to go!
trust me, i have absolutely no idea who that keri russell is though. LOL. :D
so, this morning, i was catching up with the
current affairs in singapore. so called. reading the
old newspapers to be exact. and two articles annoyed me. one if titled 'earthlings reel on finding that Pluto is just a dwarf' and the other is 'school says rules are clear-cut'
lets talk about pluto.
okay, first and foremost, i cant believe that theyre
demoting pluto to a dwarf planet. like what the hell. its my favourite planet for goodness sake. ): and its the smallest, cutest. this is irritating. and after all these years of making us learn about the
nine planets ? yikes. i dont know. so, after accepting pluto as a planet, theyre now downgrading its status, to leave just eight classical planets in the solar system. well done.
and now, there is even a new definition of a planet, and of a dwarf planet. lets check it out.
a planet is a celestial body that must be in orbit around a star while not itself being a star. it has to be large enough in mass (5 x 1020 kg / diameter > 800 km) for its own gravity to pull it into a nearly spherical shape and have cleared the neighbourhood around its orbit.
on the other hand, a dwarf planet is similar to what has been termed 'minor planets' right. and at present, there are two other planets joining pluto. ceres and xena.
rarh. pluto doesnt get any respect !
pluto is so cute lah. why do they have to demote it ?
and to make things worse, the article on students hairstyles.
hey, i really dont understand why schools have to put up so many rules. what exactly is the main purpose of holding a school ? what exactly is the main purpose of sending us to school ? WITHOUT A DOUBT, ITS FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES. (duh !) thats why i dont understand why schools have to interfere even with our physical appearances. so what if we decide to keep outlandish hairstyles ? so what if we want to have long, buffed or even painted fingernails and short skirts and low badges and ankle socks and many many more ?
i dont see what is wrong.
firstly, when students have all sorts of funky hairstyles and appear to be what most teenagers term as trendy, it doesnt neccessarily mean that they are
paikias you know ? or those type who cant study. thats so not true. its a stereotypical statement which has caused us all to forgo our passions for trends. just think about it. what has hairstyles got to do with academic results ? theyre like worlds apart. good heavens.
secondly, its the adults who have created this image where teenagers who enthusiastically keep up with trends are considered as
useless. well even if that isnt true, one thing thats for sure is that my mom has
that type mind set. but i believe majority of the parents have that too. if ya'll never began with these, people in our generation would be free to have any hairstyle we like. and why do you say these funky hairstyles are for
useless souls ? give me a reason. one that would make me surrender and have me shut my mouth. plus, i dont think looking trendy tarnishs a schools reputation. like i mentioned, its all about perception. if people slowly accept and adapt to changes (in terms of thoughts), i dont think we would have a problem anymore.
lastly, i think we should all be given the freedom to choose how we want to look. agree ?
to sum it up. there are three points altogether.
1. hairstyles do not affect our academic grades.
2. hairstyles were stereotyped by those ancient people (and its not true !)
3. its
OUR hair.
* what i cant believe is that certain secondary school students are under in-house suspension for having inappropriate hairstyles.
super funny. :D
what has rules become ?
seems to me like its getting more and more
unreasonable.
